Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-04-06

1. Agreement

By accessing or using Tabsy, you agree to these Terms of Service.

2. Service Description

Tabsy provides digital receipt infrastructure including receipt storage, OCR parsing, warranty tracking, spending analytics, and retailer API integrations.

3. Accounts

Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials and for activity under their account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Interfere with the service
  • Attempt to access other users' data
  • Circumvent security protections
  • Use the service for unlawful purposes

5. Retailer Integrations

Retailers may transmit receipt data using APIs, webhooks, or other integration methods.

Retailers are responsible for ensuring that customer data transmitted to Tabsy complies with applicable privacy and consumer protection laws.

Tabsy is not responsible for errors or interruptions caused by retailer systems or third-party integrations.

5A. Retailer Data Processing

Retailers who use the Tabsy API to transmit receipt data acknowledge that they are responsible for: (a) having a valid legal basis to share customer contact identifiers with Tabsy; (b) informing their customers that receipts may be delivered digitally via Tabsy; (c) complying with applicable data protection laws. Tabsy acts as a data processor in respect of receipt data transmitted by retailers.

6. Proof-of-Purchase Disclaimer

Tabsy provides a digital receipt storage and organisation service. Receipts stored within the service are copies of data transmitted by retailers or uploaded by users. They are provided for personal record-keeping convenience only.

Receipts stored in Tabsy are digital copies provided for personal record-keeping convenience. Tabsy makes no representation that any receipt constitutes a legal document or will be accepted by any third party as proof of purchase, proof of ownership, or evidence in any legal or administrative proceeding.

Tabsy does not guarantee that any receipt stored in the platform will be accepted by retailers, manufacturers, insurers, tax authorities, courts, or other third parties as proof of purchase, proof of ownership, or any other legal document. For high-value purchases or legal matters, you should retain the original retailer-issued receipt.

Users remain responsible for retaining records necessary for warranty claims, returns, accounting, or legal purposes.

7. Retailer Responsibility

Tabsy does not participate in the sale of goods or services. All transactions occur directly between retailers and customers.

Retailers remain responsible for:

  • Product quality
  • Return and refund policies
  • Warranty claims
  • Customer service
  • Compliance with consumer laws

8. Receipt Storage Disclaimer

While Tabsy implements safeguards designed to ensure reliable storage of receipts, the service does not guarantee permanent availability of stored data.

8A. Receipt Storage Limits

Tabsy stores receipt files for a minimum of 7 years from the date of purchase. This aligns with standard tax and accounting retention requirements in most jurisdictions (UAE VAT law requires 5 years; EU accounting rules require 7 years). Tabsy does not guarantee unlimited storage beyond this minimum period. Users who upload an unusually large number of files may be contacted if storage limits are approached.

  • Receipt image and PDF files are stored for a minimum of 7 years from the date of purchase. Basic receipt metadata (store name, total, date) is kept indefinitely.
  • Tabsy will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before any storage change affecting your files, giving you the opportunity to download them.
  • You may download your receipt files at any time via the dashboard before automatic deletion takes effect.
  • Tabsy reserves the right to introduce reasonable per-user storage limits in the future; any such limits will be communicated with at least 30 days' notice.

8B. Fair Use & Storage Abuse

Tabsy is designed for personal receipt storage and management. While we do not impose strict storage limits by default, Tabsy reserves the right to apply reasonable usage limits or take appropriate action in cases of excessive, abusive, or non-standard usage that may negatively impact service performance, storage resources, or other users.

This may include, but is not limited to:

  • Uploading unusually large volumes of files unrelated to personal purchase records
  • Using the service as a general-purpose file storage system
  • Automated or bulk uploads that exceed typical personal usage patterns

Where possible, users will be notified and given the opportunity to adjust their usage before any restrictions are applied.

9. Warranties & Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind.

While Tabsy implements industry-standard technical and organizational security measures designed to protect data, no internet-based service can guarantee absolute security or uninterrupted availability. Users acknowledge that they use the service at their own risk.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tabsy is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

Our aggregate liability is limited to the amount paid by the user (if any) in the previous 12 months.

11. Service Availability

Tabsy may experience downtime or interruptions caused by infrastructure providers, network failures, or maintenance.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Tabsy from claims arising from your misuse of the service or violation of these Terms.

13. Force Majeure

Tabsy is not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including infrastructure outages, natural disasters, cyberattacks, or government actions.

14. Suspension & Termination

Tabsy may suspend accounts that violate these Terms or pose a security risk.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the UAE.

16. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance.
